Ron Goad runs this show, and he puts together a fine selection of writers who can give a creditable performance - he himself is a fine percussionist, songwriter, and hard-working musician. He's playing in more venues per week than anybody I know. I'll play a short set sometime during the evening. Vic Cook is the featured performer, but there are other terrific writers on the bill including Doug Alan Wilcox. This place has great food and a delightful atmosphere.

I'm presenting 7:00 - 7:30, a short program of ballads and blues, maybe including an instrumental or two, some old and new stuff of mine, and some songs I wish I'd written. Luthiers is a great venue, nice intimate space, wonderful sound system, and an abundance of beautiful vintage instruments all over the walls. They don't serve food, but you can bring it in, and they do serve beer, wine, and seltzer. I've heard some great songwriters here.

I won a "Silver" in the Jazz/Blues Vocal category for my song, "Bread Out Of Stones". Their will be some great performances as some of the winners are touring musicians with serious credibility, and one was a Finalist at the Kerrville Folk Festival. PAUL MATTHEWS, a gifted poet from England who is touring North America currently, will give a reading in Takoma Park, MD, on March 18th. Mr. Matthews has published several volumes of poetry, and he has been a beloved teacher of creative writing in England and the states. His book, SING ME THE CREATION (Hawthorn Press), is highly regarded by the many who have used its exercises and suggestions. I'll be offering some musical interludes, attempting to set the mood for his always impressive work.

This is a comfortable, historic venue, and the show is run by Rod Deacy, a fine bluesman himself. Ron Goad MCs and sometimes provides his fabulous percussion.

What a great night! Included in the list was my old buddy, David Morealle, who did his "Missing Baltimore" tune. Ron Goad was behind me on percussion - he is a genius. Todd Walker was there doing sound, but also weighed in with one of his superb songs. Rod Deacey runs a good venue, played a couple of his rousing tunes, did sound, MCing, etc. John Holly read some fine poems, Tomy Wright fired up his orchestra with some memorable pieces, and David LeFluer gave the crowd some great resonator tunes.

Dulcie's song catalog is impressive, and looked to by everybody who knows what's what in the music business. Her award-winning MIRRORS AND WINDOWS cd is a joy to listen to - great songs done with feeling and crackerjack production. A prolific writer, she always surprises audiences with something new. I'm opening for Pierce Pettis, one of my favorite writers, and arguably one of the best Americana artists performing today. He's unbelievable - every album he's recorded is a treasure, including his new one,"That Kind of Love".

Piere Pettis put on a great show! he sang most of the songs on his new album, and did lot's of other stuff. Towards the end he had me accompany him on resonator, doing a cover of Hank Williams' "Hey, Good-looking". It was a fun night.

It begins with open mike at 7:30, and the two featured performers are Rod Snyder, a singer/pianist who made it to the Hollywood Round in the fourth year of American idol, and me, who has never been idolized, but about whom Mary Cliff of Traditions (WAMU) said, "sounds like he has a lived-in voice".

This was a great evening of music - good performances, good crowd, good fellowship.

"Tuesday Troubadors" hosted by Bob Sima is modeled after the classic Nashville "Singer Songwriters in the Round" format. Each Tuesday Bob brings in two guest performers who are in the round with him from 8:00 to 9:30. After this are a series of cameo sets by invited singer/songwriters. I'll be doing one of those. Fans of original music are encouraged to attend.

A fine show - Bob Sima opened it and set the bar high - a fine writer,singer and solid guitarist. The featured folks put on a good show, and it was nice for me to see friends John Bolten, Gina Desimone and Pat Quinn in cameo spots.
